Safeguarding Committee

St. John’s Parish Safeguarding Committee has developed robust and transparent policies, firmly established, with the aim of ensuring the safety of all children and vulnerable adults within the parish. We promote and oversee best safeguarding practice in all parish related activities involving children, young people and vulnerable adults. The protection and safety of all parishioners, especially children and vulnerable adults is a shared responsibility between priests and lay faithful.

Members of the Safeguarding Committee play a key role in identifying those who work alongside children, young people and vulnerable adults within our parish, ensuring that all volunteers are vetted and trained in accordance with Statutory, Diocesan and National Board guidelines.

The Committee has clearly defined roles and the Diocese of Down and Connor Safeguarding Office offers training and the development of best practice guidelines, ensuring that the Parish Safeguarding Committee is well trained and supported for their vital role in the protection of children and young people.
